臨床上面神經麻痺多為週邊型，週邊型與中樞型的鑑別診斷常常容易忘記。自己想了一個方法，由英文字前面的字母來記：由Central的c，聯想到臉頰cheek，中樞型只影響臉頰;Peripheral的per，聯想到字首per代表貫穿，表示週邊型影響前額及臉頰。

記：Central -àcheek(因為額頭由上面兩側控制，單側的lesion不會影響額頭，只會影響cheek)

Peripheral→per貫穿整個臉（字首per- == 貫穿、通、透、全、遍）
